Obituary

Funeral services for Lamar Webster Thorne will be 11 A.M. , on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at New Fellowship Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Rowzee, Dr. Ted Dukes, and Dr. Danny Lanier officiating. Burial will be in New Fellowship Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. at Newton County Funeral Home - South on Monday, March 17, 2014, and from 10 A.M. – 10:45 A.M. at New Fellowship Baptist Church, 161 CR 2422, Hickory, MS 39332 on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Thorne, 98 of Hickory died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center North Campus in Meridian.

He loved fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was dedicated to the church that he loved, New Fellowship Baptist, where he served as a deacon for many years.

Survivors include one son: James Lamar Thorne and wife Bobbie of Toomsuba; two grandchildren: Kevin Lamar Thorne of Orange Beach, AL and Dr. Keith Derek Thorne and wife Dr. Mary Beth Thorne of Brandon; five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Anna Beth, Joshua, Luke, and Linley Grace Thorne; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Myrtis Williams Thorne; parents: Harvey and Vennie Jones Thorne; three brothers: Marion, James Henry, and Hancel Thorne; and two sisters: Icie Williams and Mavis Holt.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Pickett, Elliot Richardson, Bill Williams, Jimmy Johnson, Gary Thorne, and
Lavon Cochran.

Honorary pallbearers are Randy Johnson and the Deacons of New Fellowship Baptist Church
