Kenneth Lee Hamil, 81 of Union, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - North Chapel.
Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Cemetery.
Rev. Brian Weir and Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate.
Mr. Hamil was a longtime resident of the Stratton community, who took pride in his immaculate lawn and flowers. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed attending different churches with his family. During his working career, he was employed at local manufacturing companies and retired from Mississippi Regional Housing Authority where he was honored as "Employee of the Year" during his service there. He was proud of the life he had built with the family he loved and admired. He was a constant encourager and supporter during the good times and the bad. There was nothing he was more proud of than his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruth Bailey Hamil; eight brothers and one sister and one son-in-law, Ray Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Nellie Harrison Hamil of Union; daughters, Lisa Greenwood of Philadelphia and Libby Nance (Judd) of Decatur; grandchildren, Nathan Nance (Maggie), Shelby Greenwood, Chloe Sullivan (Jonathan), Daylon Nance and Carly Greenwood; one brother, Jack Bailey Hamil; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Judd Nance, Nathan Nance, Daylon Nance, Jonathan Sullivan, Taylor Huffman, and Patrick Slay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church, 20938 Hwy. 15 N., Union, MS 39365.
Newton County Funeral Home - North, 9998 Hwy. 15 N., Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
