Services celebrating the life of Kayla Melynn Smith will begin Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South Chapel. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery at Lawrence. Bro. Bobby Everett and Bro. Shannon Doss will officiate.

KK was born Tuesday, September 17, 1991 at Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian. She was a blessing to everyone she came in contact with. KK was a bright spot in the lives of others and will be remembered for her smile that radiated over her whole countenance. She loved everyone and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at her residence at the age of 31.

She was preceded in death by step-father, Kerry Wayne Crenshaw; her maternal step-grandfather, Jimmy Thornsberry; her maternal step-grandmother, Helen Foote and her aunt, Lynn Jones.

Survivors include her mother, Missy Crenshaw, and her friend, Chris Jones; brother, Dylan Colby McElhenney (Taylor); maternal grandfather, Ed Foote; maternal grandmother, Vera Thornsberry; nephew, Riley McElhenney; niece, Braylee McElhenney; aunt, Sharon Harris (Mike); uncles, Shannon Doss (Cathy) and Wayne Doss; cousins, Alan Jones, Stephanie Doss (Chris Boutwell) and Kasie McCann (Matthew) and numerous other cousins, family members, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dylan McElhenney, Jason Felton, Brandon Felton, Chris Jones, Chris Boutwell, and Robby Carey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Doss, Wayne Doss, Riley McElhenney, Braylee McElhenney, and D.J. Jolly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South in 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton.

Special music will be performed by request, William Savell, "Jesus Loves Me."
