Katie Vanita Gressett, 47 of Chunky, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014.

Memorial services will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 1 P.M. – 4 P.M. at the home of Daphne Matlock, 2236 Chunky Duffee Rd., Chunky, MS 39323.

She loved to sing and loved music, especially Karaoke. She loved her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a helper, willing to always help others when there was a need. She was very compassionate toward animals, especially her own. She was very festive and really enjoyed decorating for any holiday. She loved the outdoors, camping and the beach particularly.

Survivors include three children: Samantha Jade Coleman and husband Beau of Lauderdale; Leah Gressett and husband Jeremy of Chunky and Cameron Scott Gressett of Chunky; three grandchildren: Landon Wilborn of Meridian; Alexia Coleman of Lauderdale and Elliot Evans of Chunky; one sister: Sheila Marie Lewis and husband James of Gulfport; one half-sister: Judy Huddleston of Little Rock; two nieces: Angie Alyse Lewis of Gulfport and Carrie Huddleston of Philadelphia; one nephew: Roger Huddleston of Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Cape and Katie Horton Cape.

Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
