Judson Gary Bounds, 44, an engineering technician for the Mississippi Department of Transportation died Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, June 25, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Newton.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

Graveside burial services will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Newton.

A lifelong native of Newton, Bounds was devoted to his family and church. He studied electrical engineering at East Central Community College and Mississippi State University. It was during this time he met his wife, Jean Claire Monroe of Purvis, MS.

Bounds was most proud of being the father of his son Liam. He enjoyed all avenues of agriculture, was an ordained deacon, and an advocate and minister to others battling cancer.

Survivors include wife of 5.5 years, Jean Claire Bounds; son Liam Bounds (4); parents James and Glenda Bounds of Newton; sister Holly Bounds of Edmond, OK; and sister and brother-in-law Dawn (Bob) Millington of Camas, WA.

He is preceded in death by grandparents James and Geraldine Bounds of Meridian and Rufus and Sadie Gary of Newton.
