Joyce Marie Walker, 67 of Newton, MS passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Newton County Funeral Home in Newton, MS from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Newton County Funeral Home and burial will follow at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Newton, MS.

At a very young age, Joyce was baptized in a pond at Little Rock M. B. Church, Hickory, MS. She was a faithful member there for several years and served as an usher.  At the time of her home going, she was a member of Pleasant Grove M. B. Church and also served dutifully as an usher until her declining health.

Although Joyce was somewhat bashful, she battled pain daily and became a warrior who fought a good fight.  If asked, "How are you today"?   She would softly say," I'm alright"!  She graduated from Newton High School, Class of 1973 and played the clarinet in the band.  Joyce loved quartet singings, choir days, and choosing just the right "bling-bling" outfit for the occasion with matching purse and shoes!  Going shopping at Ollie's always brought her joy as she gently walked with the shopping cart browsing aisle after aisle.  She also loved to go riding, especially with her brother, Larry.

Joyce retired from Esco in Newton, MS and was married to the late Jerry Walker.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Walker and her parents; Oscar Lee Johnson and Annie Lee Thompson Johnson.

Survivors include her Sons:  John Johnson, Newton, MS & Jerald Walker (Shelia) Memphis, TN;   Sisters:  Gloria (Rubin) Tatum, Newton, MS and Angela (Earnest) Echoles, Gulfport, MS;  Brothers: Ronnie (Shirley) Johnson & Larry (Francine) Johnson, Newton, MS.   Grandson,: Jerry Walker, Memphis, TN, Sister-in-laws: Lucell Jones, Myrtis Johnson, Quester Adams, Efrancis Bridges & Jewel Walker   Brother- in-laws, Marcel(Barbara)Walker, Alvis(Pat) Walker and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends from her earthly walk of life.
