Johnny Cecil Gaines, 66 of Newton, MS, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his residence in Newton, MS. Funeral services will be 1 PM, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, MS. Visitation will be held from 5 PM - 8 PM Monday at Newton County Funeral Home South & from 12:30 PM until 1 PM prior to the service at Clarke Venable Baptist Church. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, MS. Newton County Funeral Home North, Hwy 15 North, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Mr. Gaines was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church, he enjoyed working on his farm , and he was a Volkswagen enthusiast, & loved being with his family & friends, especially his 2 grandchildren.

Survivors Include his wife of 48 years: Veronica Gaines, Lawrence, MS; Daughter: Cathy Gaines Wellerman, Lawrence, MS; Grandchildren: Trevor & Bethany Wellerman, Lawrence, MS; Brother: Jimmy Gaines & wife Patricia, Decatur, MS; Sister In Law: Deborah Parker & husband Jerry, Newton, MS; &
Numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
