John L. Peavy, 68 of Enterprise, MS, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hosptial in Meridian, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Enterpise, MS.

He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting, being an outdoors person. He was a good father and a good husband. He was married to Barbara for 48 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry and Truman Peavy.

Survivors Include his wife, Barbara Pouncey Peavy, Enterprise, MS; one daughter, Leisa Cunningham and husband Jerry, Enterprise, MS; one son, Michael Peavy and wife Kelli, Enterprise, MS; Six grandchildren: Heather and husband Daniel, Alicia and husband Kanyon, Breanna, Jacob, Olivia, and Madeline; One great-grandchild, Brett; two sisters, Tammy Dew and Gail Thomas, and five brothers, Larry, Mark, Russell, Rex, and Dale Peavy.

Pallbearers: Daniel Lewis, Chris Whitlock, Richard Touchstone, J. W. Reynolds, Kanyon Estes, Lee Warren. Honorary pallbearers: Bob Bickham and Fellowship Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
