Johnny's love of the outdoors was apparent at the young age of 3, when he wandered into the woods with the family dogs behind his home, until he was found after some 20 or so hours. His compassionate heart touched many people throughout his life. He cared deeply for his dogs, which rarely left his side. When he wasn't working, he was immediately drawn to either his many deer stands or the water with a fishing pole in hand. His family is comforted by knowing that he was wrapped in his mother's arms upon entering Heaven. To know him was to love him. His vivid storytelling, laughter, compassion, presence, and obsession with the New Orleans Saints will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to love and know him throughout his 57 years on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Teletha Garvin; grandparents, Merle and Vita Campbell, ZJ Garvin
Survivors include his father, John M. Garvin, Sr; grandmother, Frances Garvin; sister, Tammy Brown (Mike); niece and nephew Baleigh Brown Riddle (Caleb), Aaron Brown; great-nephews, Collin and Campbell Riddle; aunts and uncle, Wanda and Gaylon Campbell, Betty LeBlanc, Linda Kirby; and a host of cousins who were more like siblings.
