Jeffrey Alan Clayton, Sr. 46, of Decatur, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home in Decatur, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, March 6, 1973 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-South in Newton, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home-South and burial will follow in the Decatur City Cemetery. Bro. Scott Bounds will officiate. Jeff served through a lifetime of law enforcement and public safety with the Decatur Police Department, Hickory Police Department, Hattiesburg Dispatch and currently was serving with the Newton County Dispatch.  Jeff proudly served his country in the United States Army as well as in the United States Marine Corp.  Jeff loved his family but especially cherished his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children:  Brittany Clayton and Alan Clayton (Amber); parents, Wayne J.  and Patricia Register; grandchildren: Kinlee Clayton and Rayleigh Clayton; brothers: Christopher Clayton (Holly) and Wayne Register (Lana); sister, Beth Walter; grandmother,   Adeline Yelverton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
