Jason Earl Boyd, 34, of Newton, Mississippi, died Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Laird Hospital in Union, Mississippi. He was born Friday, May 3, 1985 in Meridian, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-South in Newton, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow in Newton County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Gary Felton and Bro. Jason was a lifelong resident of Newton County and a truly good person. He was well-liked by everyone in the community and would do anything for anyone. Jason served the state with distinction through his employment with MDOT for 16 years and was recently promoted to Superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Boyd; his grandfathers, John Kenneth Boyd and Herman Pace.

Survivors include his mother, Cheryl Baggett; sister, Jessica Boyd; brother, Jeremy Baggett; grandmothers, Peggy Boyd and Mildred Pace; aunts, Brenda Embrey and Teresa Gay; uncle, Jon Pace.

Pallbearers will be Jim Humphreys, Chad McCormick, Chad Garvin, Sam Thames, Davey Burks, and Robbie Gregory.

Honorary pallbearers will be MDOT Co-Workers.
