He loved his family and grandchildren very much, and family reunions meant a lot to him. Mr. Parker served in several branches of the military from 1950 to 1991, and was awarded two bronze stars during the Korean War for Bravery. There are stories of his being in a foxhole for 9 months when the temperature was -20 degrees F. Following his military service he worked with the Fish and Game Commission for about 33 years. He never met a stranger and always had a joke for someone. He enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp around the campfire. He was always calling and checking on his friends especially during the holidays. He would always put others before himself.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Elton Parker and Cordie Goodwin Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa A. Parker of Meridian; 5 daughters, Deborah Hamm (Ernest) of Union, Yvonne Bracken of Newton, Cordie Rodenbaugh (Rick) of Madison, Vickie Dean (Tim) of Little Rock; Janice Parker of Meridian; 1 son, Chris Parker of Meridian, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, O'Farrel and Glen Parker.
