James Robert Loper, age 77, of Hickory, MS, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Pioneer Hospital in Newton, MS. Mr. Loper was born August 25, 1937 in Fellowship Community in Jasper County, MS and resided there most of his life. However, for the last year and a half, he was a resident at Bedford Care Center of Newton, MS. Mr. Loper was preceded in death by his parents, George Columbus and Erna Bell Loper.
Mr. Loper is survived by his son, James Robert Loper, II and wife Pamela of Alexandria, Louisiana; his sister, Elizabeth (Bob) Wilkerson of Fellowship Community; his brother, Terry Loper of Newton, MS; his grandchildren, Corbin Loper and Avery Loper of Alexandria, Louisiana.
He was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Fellowship Community, Jasper County, MS.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Bedford Care Center for their care and compassion during Mr. Loper's residence.
Newton County Funeral Home South in Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at New Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Fellowship Community with the Rev. Ted Dukes officiating.
