Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, MS for Mr. James Bobby Everett, 86, of Decatur, who died Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS.

Mr. Everett was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He graduated high school from Stratton. After graduation he attended ECJC where he played baseball and basketball. He then graduated from Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelors of Accounting Degree.
He then enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Pittsburgh, CA and during this time he married his wife of 61 years Jessie May Stewart.
Mr. Everett then entered and graduated from The University of Mississippi Law School in 1956.
His love for Newton County brought him back to Decatur where he practiced law for over 50 years until his time of illness.
Mr. Everett was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
He was very dedicated to his community, his law practice, and especially his family. In 2014, he received The Lifetime Achievement Award from East Central Community College. In addition, he was instrumental in starting The Mid-Mississippi Development District in the early 1960s.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jessie May Everett and parents Opal Addy Everett and Thurman L. Everett,

He is survived by: daughter Lisa Everett Lucovich and her husband Andy, Meridian, MS; son Keith Everett and wife Darlene, Meridian, MS, Grandchildren: Stewart Everett, John Everett, Jessica Daves and her husband Bryce, and Allison Lucovich,

Pallbearers will be: Sonny Addy, Jerry Addy, James Addy, Jackie Knight, Wilmer Whittle, James Rowzee, John Everett, Stewart Everett, and Andy Lucovich.
The Fellowship Sunday School Class of Clarke Venable will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Jessie M. and Bobby Everett Scholarship Fund at ECCC. P.O. Box 129, Decatur, MS 39327.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at The Christa House, especially Dee Taylor.
