Funeral services for Mrs. Ina Margaret Smith will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home - South. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.

Rev. Ben Harper will officiate.

Mrs. Smith, age 99, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 at her residence.  After graduation from Newton High School, Mrs. Smith went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years before returning back to her home state of Mississippi. Before beginning her longtime career with Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Newton and Meridian, she worked a brief time for the Newton County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Valentine's administration. After retiring from Coca-Cola, she worked in the fabric department at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church and she enjoyed the senior adult activities. She was also a member of the Newton County Historical and Genealogical Society. She loved her family very much and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Smith, Sr.; father, Glover Burnell Simmons, Sr.; mother, Eleanor Watkins Simmons and brothers, Glover "Sonny" Simmons, Jr. and Estes Simmons.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy Smith (Iva Dean) of Decatur; one grandchild, Stacey Hollingsworth (Marty); two great grandchildren, Charley Hollingsworth and Seth Hollingsworth.

Pallbearers will be Marty Hollingsworth, Charley Hollingsworth, John Ferguson, Max Ferguson, Ricky Dennis, and Chris McElhenney.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home.
