Our precious mother, Ina Ruth (McMullan) Bemister, 91, of Ann Arbor Michigan, was called home to be with her beloved husband, parents, and sister on January 5th, 2017 at her home. Ruth was born on October 1st, 1925 in Decatur, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson McMullan and Ina (Spivey) McMullan. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi. She lived most of her life in Michigan as a loving homemaker to her six children. Ruth was devoted to her family. She was hardworking, dedicated, and one of the kindest and sweetest people we knew. Ruth had the heart of an angel and loved everyone who crossed her path. Her children referred to her as their precious mama; the one who held the family together. Later in her life, Ruth worked at University of Michigan for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2010. She was an enthusiastic and devoted Michigan football fan: always wearing maize and blue colors for her team. The family is indebted to Carol and Leah (granddaughter) for constant, loving and compassionate care for the last six years. Through their care, mama went to heaven as an angel with a smile on her beautiful face. Ruth is survived by her devoted children: Don (and Kris) Bemister, Susan (and Todd) Deister, Christi (and Mollie) Bemister, Carol (and Kelly) Bemister and Debbie (and Dean) Coulter, all of Michigan; one step-son, Jim (and Carol) Bemister, of Florida, fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Hubert Austin Bemister, and son, Charles Bemister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 14th, at Newton County Funeral Home, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS, 39345. Viewing will be from 10-11:00 am followed by the service, which will be officiated by Pastor Cole Huffman. Burial will follow immediately at Newton County Memorial Gardens.
