Obituary

Imogene Addy, 90, of Decatur, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home in Union, Mississippi. She was born Monday, February 2, 1931 in Stratton, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Decatur United Methodist Church in Decatur, MS with funeral services immediately following.  Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Philip Marshall, Rev. Sarah Jo Adams-Wilson and Rev. Jake Adams-Wilson will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Imogene was a 1949 graduate of Stratton High School.  After graduation she worked at the Newton Company and worked there until 1996 when it closed.  She was affectionately called "Nanny" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Henry Addy; parents, William and Sallie Cleveland; sisters: Gwen Thrash, Willie Mae Rivers, Audie Wicks, and Darah Cooksey; brothers:  Boyd Cleveland, Cobert Cleveland, Ozro Cleveland, and Selby Cleveland.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra (Glenn) Nicholson and Carol (Steve) Pittman; grandchildren: Nicole (Jason) Goforth, Tyler (Taylor) Nicholson, and Bryan (Spencer) Pittman; great-grandchildren: Jake Goforth, Riley Goforth, Cooper Goforth, Ross Nicholson, and Addy Kate Nicholson; sister-in-law, Carlene Cleveland, and many precious nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Nicholson, Bryan Pittman, Cory Cleveland, Ned Addy, Jason Goforth, and Randy Rushing.
