Mrs. Hilda Grace Bynum, age 82, passed away Saturday evening, July 24, 2021, at Rush Hospital.
She was born April 1, 1939, in Taylorsville, Mississippi, the only daughter of the late Bura and Mary Frances (Crane) Craft.
Hilda was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Doug.
Hilda lived a majority of her life in Taylorsville, Mississippi, where she was the pianist and organist for Mt. Zion Baptist Church. After moving to Newton to be near her family, she became a member of Newton Christian Church, where she played the organ.
Hilda worked at Taylorsville Manufacturing, known in Taylorsville as the sewing plant, for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, singing, baking cakes, and crocheting.
Hilda is survived by one daughter, Cassie (Sammy) Ford; two grandchildren, Robert (Penny) Ford and Katie (Jeremy) Moffett; and four great-grandchildren, Gavin Moffett, Carlee and Russell Ford, and Charlotte Irby. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30 AM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Newton County Funeral Home-North. Graveside service and burial will follow at the Mississippi Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 12 PM with Bro. Adam Wade officiating.
David Cleveland, Donny Cleveland, Larry Robinson, Jeff Bynum, Donace Anderson, and Cade Price will serve as pallbearers.
