Herman Kelly

Newton, MS - Services for Herman Kelly will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Newton Christian Church in Newton, MS. Burial will follow at Pace Cemetery in Lake, MS with Newton County Funeral Home - South in charge of arrangements. Bro. Archie Taflinger will officiate.

Mr. Kelly, 83, passed away at MS Care Center of Morton on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

Mr. Kelly was born in Lake, MS on June 20, 1931. He graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminary in 1954. He began his preaching career while at seminary and preached in 37 different churches in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. He returned to Mississippi in the mid-60's and preached at Newton Christian Church and Lemon Christian Church. In addition to preaching, Mr. Kelly worked in the radio business, first as an announcer, salesman, and manager, then eventually as the owner of radio stations in Newton, Lucedale, and Quitman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Stanley and Lucy Pace Kelly; his brothers, Joseph B. Kelly, Stanley M. Kelly, Robert Farris Kelly, Clifton R. Kelly, Herbert Kelly and his only sister Marzelle Kelly Palmer.

He is survived by: Brother-in-law, John A. Palmer (Janet), Ocean Springs, MS, Sister-in-law - Catherine Kelly, Lake, MS, Nephews: O'Neal Kelly (Cathy), and Charles Kelly (Connie), of Newton, MS, David L. Kelly (Bonnie), Monticello, IN, Robert Kelly (Brenda), Redmond, OR, Wayne Kelly, Roseville, CA, Danny Kelly (Sue), Lake Forest, CA; Nieces: Ramona Davies, San Francisco, CA, Linda Ammann (Art), New York, NY, Shirley Reed (Barry), Longmont, CO, Sue Kelly, Lawrence, MS, Debbie Patton, Saucier, MS, Kim Geoffry (Leon), Haymarket, VA; numerous great-nieces and nephews; cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South.
