Helen Marie Lofton Perritt
(October 14, 1929 – April 21, 2025)

Helen Marie Lofton Perritt, aged 95, of Lake, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the J.G. Alexander Nursing Home in Union, Mississippi. Born on October 14, 1929, in Gilbert, Louisiana, Helen was a cherished member of her community and a devoted member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church in Lake, MS.

Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was married to her beloved husband, Herman Perritt, on November 22, 1945, and together they built a life filled with love and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Clyde Perritt, Sr.; her son, Billy Wayne Perritt; her daughter, Shirley Perritt Maddox; her grandson, Raymond Jones; her father, Leonard Lofton; her mother, Minervia Emma McLaughlin Lofton; her brothers, Eugene Harold Lofton, Russell Lofton, Joel David Lofton, and James Edward Lofton; and her sister, Ruth Hendrix.

Helen is survived by her son, Herman Clyde Perritt, Jr. (Denise); her daughter, Sherry Perritt Parker (Danny) of Decatur, MS; her grandchildren, Michael Jones (Christine) of Forest, MS, Tammie Phillips (Chris) of Morton, MS, Jason Ramage of Brandon, MS, Shanna Horn (Justin) of Decatur, MS, Audrey Haralson (Danny) of Conehatta, MS, Jack Parker of Decatur, MS, Amber Williams (Keith) of Southaven, MS, Jim Perritt of Lake, MS, and Billy 'Freedom' Perritt (Megan) of Forest, MS; 25 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sarah Mae McGowne.

Helen was known for her love of baking, sewing, and her generous spirit, always ready to help those in need. She was a dedicated servant in her church and community, and a prayer warrior for all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newton County Funeral Home - South, located at 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, with burial at Kalem Methodist Cemetery in Morton, Mississippi. Bro. Bruce Lofton will officiate the services, and special music will be performed by Mr. Bobby Lofton.

Pallbearers will include Jack Parker, Chris Phillips, Freedom Perritt, Shawn Fisher, Michael Jones, and Jason Ramage, with honorary pallbearers Jim Perritt, Dustin Fisher, Mason Ramage, Tryston Haralson, and Parker Haralson.

Helen's legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
