Helen Moody Dennis, age 96, of Lawrence, MS went to her heavenly home August 3, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 29, 1925, in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home-North with visitation being held one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow at the Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence, MS.  Rev. Becky Smith and Rev. Allen King will officiate.

Mrs. Dennis (Mee-maw), as she was called by her grands, was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was also an active member of Hull Memorial (Lawrence) United Methodist Church where she served for 60+ years.

Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Mason L. Dennis, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Moody, her sisters, Frances Moody Vinz, Ruth Moody Sallis and Dorothy Ann Moody DeRuiter. Her brothers, Orland Moody and Leland Moody, daughter, Susan Dennis Savell; stepdaughter, Shirley Dennis Vance; sons-in-law; Charles Vance and Hamp Savell.

Survivors include her children: Glenn Dennis (Becky) of Madison, MS, Alfred (AL) Dennis (Margaret) of Newburgh, IN, Mary Juanita (Nita) Carr of Collierville, TN, and stepdaughter, Linda Cooper-Derrick (Robert) of Pulaski, MS; Grandchildren: Lorri Savell of Brandon, MS, Nathan Savell (Lauren) of Decaturville, TN, Cody Savell (Brandi) of Decatur, MS, David Dennis of Madison, MS, Jon Dennis (Kelley) of Collierville, TN, Mary Lynn Dennis of Norfolk, VA, Mason Dennis (Audrey, fiancée) of Mt. Vernon, WA, Sarah Carr Dallas (Brian) of Springdale, AR, Allen Carr (Cara) of Jackson, MS, Leslie Carr Ely (Jason) of Memphis, TN; Step grandchildren: Dennis R. (Rusty) Cooper of Oxford, MS, Eugene B. (Burt) Cooper (Carmen) of Honolulu, HI, Charles (Chuck) T. Cooper (Bridgett) of Magee, MS, Dr. Greg A. Vance (Martha Jo) of Jackson, MS, and Jayne Vance Crenshaw (Charlie) of Brandon, MS. She also has 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are: Nathan Savell, Cody Savell, David Dennis, Jon Dennis, Mason Dennis, Allen Carr, Brian Dallas and Jason Ely.
