Visitation for Greg McDonald will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, with services following the visitation celebrating his life in the chapel of the funeral home. Dr. Charles Douglas and Bro. Mark McDonald will officiate.
Private burial will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in the presence of immediate family members.
Gregory Lee McDonald was born Wednesday, October 27, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, moving to Mississippi around 1950. Greg will be remembered for his 25 year career in local law enforcement, as "Newton County 102" as Constable and "Decatur 2" as Police Officer. His favorite past time was fishing and he loved his family very much. He was a jovial conversationalist, always straight forward speaking and had his own "style" of singing. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Thompson McDonald and his parents, Roy Gregory and Doris Keeler McDonald.
Survivors include his wife of almost 31 years, Louise Morgan McDonald of Lawrence, MS; one son, Jamie McDonald (Robin) of Newton, MS; one step-son, Aaron Shook (Ashleigh) of Gautier, MS; two step-daughters, Joanna Brown (Josh) of Haddon Township, NJ and Laura Page (Shawn) of Gulfport, MS; ten grandchildren, Steven Weir, Leanne Cash, Lexi Culpepper, Brandon Shook, Howie Shook, Aribella Shook, Thomas Shook, Brenna Brown, McKenna Brown and Kara Page; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill McDonald (Patsy), Mark McDonald (Cathy) and Donald "Don Don" McDonald (Vanessa); several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Butler, Jim Mosley, Don Collins, Ron Davis, and Don Evans, and all former law enforcement officers that he worked with over the years, in special mention,
Glenn Pace, Donald Ray Evans, and James Hanna.
