Grace had many talents. She was an accomplished artist whose paintings and crochet art hang in many of our homes. She was an excellent seamstress, many people turned to her to make dresses for special occasions and many babies were cuddled in blankets she made. Grace was quite a traveler, who as an adult, lived in no less than 24 houses. She was a strongly independent woman with no fear when faced with any of life's difficulties. Her strength and determination served as an inspiration to all who knew her. Her sense of humor was sharp as a razor. When she graduated from Hickory High School, the yearbook had this saying under her photo "She's witty and she's wise, her limits are the skies". Now she awaits us in Heaven to share her wit, wisdom, and good times.
She was preceded in death by husband, Fred Shirley; son, Kelly Ross Flynt; her parents, Albert and Nora Embrey; siblings, Mary Cooley, Gerelene Pugh, and Claty Mae Embrey.
Survivors include son, Roger Flynt (Camilla); grandchildren, Jessica Kenmore, Sarah Flynt, Logan Flynt, Victor Flynt, Amanda Bison (Clint), Zachary Flynt; great-grandchildren, Skylar Bison and Joanna Bison; siblings, Albert Francis Embrey, Annie Merle Harwell, J V Embrey, and Nora Jean Majure.
Pallbearers will be Austin Murphy, Tim Murphy, Mark Majure, Toby Majure, Ricky Embrey, and Paul Pugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Harwell and Mike Harwell.
