Services for Gerald Meador, 77, will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton, MS with visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Rev. Mark Vincent will officiate.

Mr. Meador died February 25, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian. He was born September 15, 1937 in Stratton, MS.

He enjoyed gardening and hunting. He served some 22 years in the military encompassing Africa, South Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He only lacked a few miles having circumnavigated the whole world.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Lewis and Warrine Walden Meador, one sister - Benoline Simon, and two brothers - David R. and Ray Meador.

He is survived by his spouse, Glenda Meador of Decatur, MS; one son, John Lewis Meador (Judy), Sumrall, MS; one daughter, Lora Jane Fulton (Scott), Decatur, MS; one brother, William "Billy" Meador; one sister, Joyce Gamble; four grandchildren, Lowry Ozborn, Lane Fulton, Cole Meador, Jacob Meador; and one great-grandchild, Jayden Ozborn.
