George Hiram Todd., age 81, and a resident of Hickory, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his home.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hickory Cemetery.

Burial will follow the graveside rites.

Bro. Jackie Strebeck will officiate.

George was a graduate of Hickory High School and was a retired surveyor with Engineering Services of Jackson. He will be remembered for his "contagious smile" and always enjoyed the simple things of life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lettie Todd.

Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Barron (Roberto) of North Carolina; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Cruz of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Trance Cruz, Maddux Cruz, and Story Cruz; one sister, Frances Chaney and one brother, Jerry Todd (Wanda, both of Hickory and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mike Chaney, Tyler Overby, Mickey Bunyard, and Wayne Robinson.

Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements.
