Etta Kate Gaines, 99, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Bedford Care Center in Newton, Mississippi. She was born Monday, September 12, 1921, in Jasper County, Mississippi.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Mark McDonald will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 683-2152

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. H. Gaines; son, Bobby Ray Gaines; parents, Columbus and Etta Loper; sister, Blanche Stamper; brothers, Frank Loper, G. C. Loper, Robert Loper, and Winfred Loper.

Survivors include her son, John Gaines and numerous nieces and nephews.
