Eric Lee Emmons lost his life unexpectedly from natural causes in April 2024.  The family will have visitation on Tuesday, April 16 from six until eight o'clock at Newton First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 17 at Newton First Baptist Church at ten o'clock with burial to follow at Newton Masonic Cemetery.  Pastor Chris Spence will officiate.

Eric was born March 5, 1975 to William and Shirley Emmons of Newton. Eric attended Newton Municipal Schools then Newton County Academy where he graduated and then continued his education at East Central Community College.  Growing up, he enjoyed playing football and baseball as well as hunting.  Eric's work career involved jobs in the pipeline industry throughout the United States. However, one of Eric's favorite pastimes was spoiling his children, Avery and Owen, with gifts and food his picky eaters enjoyed.  Eric believed in Jesus and is known to have read the Bible through many times.

Survivors include his father William Emmons of Newton, his children Avery and Owen Emmons of Louisville, brothers David Emmons (Jennifer) of Venice, Florida and Barry Emmons (Tina) of Reagan, Tennessee. Nieces and nephews Will Emmons, Zach Emmons, Mason Shadel, and Savannah Snyder.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Ann Moore Emmons, and his grandparents Jesse Lee and Lottie Virginia Emmons and Artis and Mavis Moore.

Pallbearers are Bryan Burt, Charles Godwin, Boo Elkins, Donnie Shimfessel, Bubba Parker, Lucas Poole, Jody Wagner, and Jon Kilgore.
