Ellen Uldine Johnson passed away, March 2, 2019. She was 92.
A native of Decatur, MS, born December 21, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Tinsley and Maurine Johnston. "Nannie", as her family called her, was incredibly loving, accepting, and kind. She was a woman who loved life, "young at heart", and made everyone around her want to be a better person. She loved her church and her favorite hymn was: "Tell Me The Story Of Jesus". She really enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints play football.
She was the most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed tremendously.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Johnson; her son, Tim Johnson; grandson, Caleb Johnson; and her siblings, Tom Johnston and Euple Graham.
She is survived by her children, son, Ron Johnson of Decatur and special (Charla) of Starkville; daughter, Mary Ellen Hopson (Ronnie) of Pearl; granddaughter, Misty Lowery (Beau) of Baton Rouge, LA; "Most Precious" great-grandson, Carter Lowery (Little Saint) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Rebecca DeMaria, who helped care for her during her illness. And numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the Newton County Funeral Home-North. Funeral Services will be begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Interment will follow in Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro Victor Buggs will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
