Katherine Elaine Stokes Hailey was born Nov. 7, 1936 to Clark and Ethel Stokes near Preston in Kemper County and attended Prince Chapel School. At age 15, she married Holly D. Hailey, and remained faithfully married for 61 years until his death in February 2014. A factory worker and lifelong homemaker, she worked for several years before retiring from Van Zyverden. A strong woman of faith who was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Kemper County, she was also known for her deep affection for teacakes, sugar biscuits, and all things Christmas. Mrs. Hailey spent a lifetime perfecting her sewing, quilting, crocheting and gardening skills. She was quick-witted and joyful, and was especially proud and quick to defend all of those she loved - most specifically her family and fur babies.
She is survived by daughters Kathy Shelby and Martha Ross and son Tony (Gail) Hailey, all of Little Rock; as well as grandchildren Kandi Mitchell, Shannon Sciple, Scott Mitchell and Crystal (Tim) Mills; sister Judy Higginbotham, niece Lynn (Keith) Swain, nephew Rocky (Kelly) Higginbotham, and sister-in-law Jane Helen Davis; great-grandchildren Gregory (Erin) Mitchell, Hannah (Lucas) Aycox, Joshua Mitchell, Zack Sciple, Shannon (Paisley) Sciple II, Allyson Sciple, Brandy (Daryl) Frazier, Bernece Sciple, Brittany (Zack) Khader, Bethany (Gabe) Swartz, Mathen Mills, and Joseph Fox; and great-great grandchildren Kinsley, Sammy, Alia, Malcolm, William, Hayden, Blakelynn, Bellamy, Jovi, Navy, Elizabeth, Jaxson, Waylon, and Braylon.
Mrs. Hailey was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as grandson James Chip Sciple, granddaughter Brandy Blackwell Ross, sons-in-law Greylan Ross and Tommy Hogue, and sisters-in-law Hazel Russell and Reva Pennington.
Serving as pallbearers are Gregory Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Lucas Aycox, Shannon Sciple II, Rocky Higginbotham, and Danyl Frazier.
