Eileen Gordy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 25, 1943 and passed away October 26, 2026 at the Gordy family homestead in Lawrence, Mississippi at the age of 83.

Eileen grew up in Durham, NC, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received her master's in graphic design from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Her professional career spanned years of teaching at IIT, the Art Institute of Chicago and ultimately as head of the graphics department at the Research Triangle Institute in RTP, NC. She relocated to the Gordy family homestead in January of 1993, where she remained until her passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Gordy (Mike James); her brother, Terrell Gordy (Wanda); her granddaughters, Mandie Murphy (Patrick) and Miranda Gilfillan (Nick) and six great-grandsons, Felix, Audie, Cedric, Miles, Theodore, and Finnigan; her nephews, Terrell Gordy and Richard Gordy and her beloved cousin, Wayne Gordy (Rachel).

Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vida Gordy.

Family and friends will gather at the Gordy Family Homestead, 518 Gordy Rd., Lawrence, MS, on Saturday, November 28, 2026 at 1pm to celebrate her life and scatter her ashes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association , Alzheimer's Association .
