Edwin Lamar Cherry, aged 97, of Jackson, MS, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on Monday, October 3, 1927, Mr. Cherry served his country honorably in the United States Navy. After his military service, he became the owner and superintendent of Cherry Hill Golf Course in Forest, MS, where he worked until his retirement.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 9:00 until 10:00 at Newton County Funeral Home - North, located at 9998 Hwy. 15 North, Newton, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location, with John Matt Musgrove officiating. Newton County Funeral Home - North is handling the arrangements.
