Mrs. Doris Ellen Laird, age 94, of Little Rock, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025 at J.G. Alexander Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for nine years.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am at the same location. Burial will follow in Hebron Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.

Bro. Harold Laird and Bro. Roger Laird will officiate.

Mrs. Laird was a native of Newton County and a longtime resident of Little Rock. She was a retired cafeteria worker from Union Public Schools and a faithful member of Hebron Missionary Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She will be remembered for her love for all children and having a servant's heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Laird; her parents, John Clifton and Bessie Jones McCorkle; one grandchild, Jace Laird; one brother, James McCorkle and one sister, Catherine Reid.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Laird (Gwen), and one grandchild, Cade Laird, both of Forest, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Josh Caldwell, Will Chaney, Junior Laird, Keith McMahan, Paul McMahan, and Robert Smith.

Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Ray Laird.

Special music will be provided by Shorty and Karen McMahan and Bro. Harold Laird.

Newton County Funeral Home, 9998 Eastside Dr. Ext./Hwy. 15 N., Newton, served the Laird family.
