Donna Ruth Hutchins, age 73, and a resident of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at her residence. She was born Tuesday, January 22, 1952 in Meridian, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Newton County Funeral Home - South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, with funeral services immediately following in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery.

Bro. Gabe Swann, Bro. Jackie Strebeck, and Bro. Justin Chaney will officiate.

Donna was a graduate of Hickory High School, and worked many years for Rush Hospital, before gaining employment with the Newton County Circuit Clerk's office. Donna will be remembered for her "big heart and sense of humor." She loved crafting, was a talented musician, enjoyed yard work and spoiling her grandchildren. Donna enjoyed all areas of sports, specifically, tennis, and loved watching football. She was a Christian by testimony of her faith, and held fellowship with Church Arise at Decatur, where she served as pianist and was a member of the praise team. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, James M. Holt.

Survivors include her mother, Ruth Holt of Decatur; one son, Wade Hutchins of Irving , TX; two daughters, Renee Hutchins of Poplarville and Denise Burks of Portsmouth, NH; eight grandchildren Caitriona, JaKolbie, Aurora, Fiona, Maria, Erica, Evelyn and Freedom;  three great grandchildren, Levi, Tylan and Keegan; four aunts and a host of  cousins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Butler, Alandaz Payne, Derek Bowden, Eugene Chaney, Jimmy Johnson, and Alex Hamilton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Everett, David Airhart Jr., and John Holyfield.

Special music will be provided by Ms. Betty Sue Chaney.
