Donald Gene Boutwell, 85, of Newton, MS passed away Monday, November 4, 2019, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 14, 1934 in Newton County, MS.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 8, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Popular Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton. Dr. David Rives will officiate. Donald retired from the US Postal Service, serving the city of Newton, MS as a postman for 20 years. He was a member of the Masons for 50 plus years. He also served in the US Navy from 1952 until 1956. Donald was a long-time member of Lawrence Baptist Church. The highlight of his morning was eating breakfast with his friends at Hardees.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Boutwell; his parents, Preston and Lillie Boutwell; siblings, Monice Williams, Paul Boutwell, Louie Boutwell, Tinker Boutwell, and J. P. Boutwell.

Survivors include his daughter, Pam Harrison (Jeff), of Converse, LA; granddaughter, Jessica Stagg (Jerry), of Newton, MS; great grandson, Trey Stagg; sister, Geneva Munn and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Rains, John Pace, George Heath, Paul Craven, Bill Matthews, and Gene Comans.
