David Harold "Doc" Alexander, 71, of Little Rock, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Anderson's Regional Medical Center. He was born Sunday, October 31, 1948, in Meridian, Mississippi.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 4:00 PM at Providence Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jackie Strebeck and Bro. Larry Laird will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200

Doc was a giant of a man in size and character. He was a native of Duffee, MS and a well-respected pillar in the community. He served his country in the Vietnam War before coming home to marry Dotsie and starting a family. Doc was very family oriented and took great joy making memories with his grandchildren and sharing them with others. He was a faithful deacon at Providence Missionary Baptist Church since 1979. His favorite hobby was hard work but also loved hunting, fishing, and anything to spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oneal and Elsie Alexander.

Survivors include his wife, Dotsie Alexander; children, Kelly Jo Alford (Brandon) and Ben Alexander (Whitney); grandchildren, Bella Claire Alexander, Aiden Alford, Blyss Alford, Jordyn Layne Alford, Ollie Anne Alexander, and Harold Jackson "Jack" Alexander; one brother, Danny Alexander (Amanda) and one sister, Cathy Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, Jeff Alexander, Byron Alexander, Michael Alexander, Marty Alexander, and Grady Scarbrough.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Sanders, Chris Alexander, Dennis Arthur, Calvin Lynn Alexander, Charles Alexander, Riley Scarborough, Mike Tvarkunas, James Daniel Savell, and The Deacons of Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
