Danny Weems, 69, of Lawrence, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, in Pecos, Texas. He was born Monday, January 21, 1952, in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-North. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Alan Teel will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 635-3200
Danny founded Weems Forest Products in 1973, following in the family tradition of logging. After 32 years in the business, his love of travel and adventure led him and Nora to purchase a KOA Kampground in Chattanooga, TN, which they owned and operated for over 15 years. They loved to travel and were avid Nascar fans, attending races across the US. In recent years, they were living their dream of traveling the country in their motorhome and enjoying life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie Floyd and Dorothy Weems; infant son, Danny Michael Weems, and twin grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Berry.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Weems; daughters, Delwin Wohlscheid (Erick) and Nicki Berry (Stephen); special nieces, Cisly Boykin (Brance) and Christa Soldevilla (John); grandchildren, Dalton Ricketson, Dayton Ricketson, Daniel Berry, and Mallory Berry; special great-nieces, Ivey Bruntlett and Aria Soldevilla; special great-nephew, Brynn Boykin; siblings, Loletta Boutwell (Wayne), Rosetta Walton (LeRoy), and Buddy Weems (Angelia), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bradley, Jeff Bradley, Paul Brown, Chris Guyse, Chris Weems, Hoop Weems, Mark Boutwell, Jeff Walton, and Kirk Weems.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dayton Ricketson, Dalton Ricketson, Daniel Berry, and Brynn Boykin.
