Obituary

Cora B Coker McLaurin entered her eternal home on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020, at Foxbridge Assisted Living Community in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born on May 29, 1930 in Newton, Mississippi to Nadie Weir Coker and Roy Coker.

She graduated from Newton High School in 1948 and married O.T. McLaurin on March 4th, 1950. Cora was a homemaker. She and O.T. raised two daughters, Beverly McLaurin Flowers and Jennifer McLaurin Sanford. Cora worked as a photo assistant at School Pictures in Jackson, Mississippi until she retired. Cora enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, camping with their camping club, playing dominos, and spending time with her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nadie and Roy Coker, and her husband, O.T. McLaurin.

Cora is survived by her sister, Peggy Gaines, her daughters, Bev Flowers (Jackie) and Jenny Sanford (Ron), her grandchildren, Brian Cassino (Ashley), Anna Rudolph (Stephen), and Leslie McKinney (Marlin), her great-grandchildren, Sophi, Emma, Daniel, and Jonathan Cassino, Nadie and Oliver Rudolph, and Sanford and Bennett McKinney, her step-great-grandchildren, Maylen, Adeline, and Pearce Janovich, her sisters-in-law Evelyn Hinton, Pat Upchurch, and Jean McLaurin, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday, September 6th at Newton County South Funeral Home, 100 Old Hwy 15 Loop, Newton, MS 39345. Visitation will be at 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that masks be worn at the service and that all friends practice social distancing.  Bro. Joe Garvin will officiate.  Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements (601) 635-3200.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Cassino, Sanford McKinney, Keith Gaines, Kerry Gaines, Kaleb Gaines and Joshua Gaines.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan Cassino, Oliver Rudolph and Bennett McKinney.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, sympathy be expressed by donations to:
