Clarence Ray Chaney, 86 of Hickory, MS, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM, on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory, MS with Bro. Thomas Laird and Bro. Roger Laird officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Mr. Chaney was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He retired from a lifelong career of truck driving and he was an avid fan of Nascar with Jeff Gordon being his favored driver.

Preceded in death by: Parents: E.R. and Lena Gordon Chaney; sister: Alatha Chaney.

Survivors Include: wife of 65 years: Jean B. Chaney, Hickory, MS; daughter: Pam Steverson (Dan), Hickory, MS; sons: Paul Chaney (Amie), Natchez, MS and Alex R. Chaney (Rachel), Holks Bluff, AL; grandchildren: Allen Chaney, Jonothan Chaney (Lindsy), Flynn Steverson, Daniel Steverson, Sarah Chaney and Nathan Chaney; and a special nephew: Ronny Buckley.

Visitation will be held from 5:00PM-8:00PM on Saturday January 17, 2015 at Newton County Funeral Home South Location, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS.
