Clara Delores Holeman, of Hickory, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton, with funeral services immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
She was born Thursday, July 9, 1931 in Clanton, Alabama and graduated from McAdory High School. After relocating to Thomasville, GA, Mrs. Holeman was employed with Georgia Telephone Company. She and Eldon Wright married in February 1954. His military career lead them to being stationed in Texas, where they raised their family until his death. She married Louis Pack, Sr., in 1967, moving from San Antonio, to Jackson, MS in 1973, and lived in Jackson until his death several years later. While in Jackson, she reestablished her career with Bell South, and retired. She went on to marry Jim Holeman in 1984, and eventually moved to Marion, MS, where she remained until Jim's death. She was a Christian by testimony of her faith and very active in several congregations throughout her lifetime. She volunteered with several organizations including Red Cross and hospice services. Mrs. Holeman enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining and hosting events at home and at church. She will be remembered as one who loved her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Eldon Wright, Louis Pack, Sr. and James Holeman, Jr.; her parents, Julius Reed and Iris Gertiemae Baker Culp; one grandchild, Gage Wright; two brothers, J.R. Culp, Jr. and Jim Culp; three sisters, Dorothy Pettigrew, Marian Norman and Blanche Ragan; one step-son, Ralph Pack; one step-daughter, Sandra Parr and one step-grandson, Phillip Wooldridge.
Survivors include her children, Paula Hopkins (Rick) of New Braunfels, TX; Suzan Walker (Curtis) of Hickory, MS and Russell Wright (Katrina) of Mexico Beach, FL; two step-sons, Louis Pack, Jr. (Sheila) of Schertz, TX, and Eric Holeman (Hanh) of La Porte, TX; three step-daughters, Pam Schmidt (Max) of Helotes, TX, Cindy Stepinoff (Steve) of Cypress, TX, and Toni Oakland of Tomball, TX; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Oma Yandle of Thomasville, GA and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the staff of Lackey Convalescent Home and Accent Care Hospice for their professional care and services during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International, Inc., P.O. Box 297, Newton, MS 39345.
