Charles Edward Thompson, 84 of Newton, MS passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at his residence. He was born Thursday, October 13, 1938 in Lake, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-North (9998 Eastside Dr./15 N. Newton, MS 39345). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Lawrence, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence, MS. Bro. Larry Laird and Bro. Bobby Everett will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements (601)635-3200.
Mr. Charles "Pa" as he was affectionately known, was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He spent many years in the grocery business, served as a constable, and even worked for the ambulance service. He was a member of Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in which he faithfully served as Deacon. He had many hobbies which included, fishing, hunting, car shows, camping and water skiing. He will be remembered as being a true neighbor to those in the community, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family especially the love of his life, Imogene. Where you saw one you would see the other. Mr. Charles will truly be missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Shepherd Thompson; father, John D. Thompson; mother, Madge Stokes Thompson; brothers, Howard Earl Thompson, Billie Albert Thompson, Buford Earl Thompson, C.B. Thompson and Harry Thompson; sisters, Lillie Bell Pennington, Laurie Ree Hathcock and Margaret Ann McDonald.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Jenneskens (Jim) of Largo, FL; grandchildren, Brandon Bishop (Sable) and Cory Bishop (Sandy); great grandchildren: Christian Bishop, Reed Bishop, Andi Kay Bishop and Ellie Bishop.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Doss, Mike Hines, David Bradley, Jack Everett, John David Upton, Danny Thompson, Michael Thompson, and Chris Thompson.
