Charles Ellis Jackson, Sr., 72, of Newton, MS passed away peacefully Monday, April 25, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born Monday, August 30, 1943 in Newton, MS.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - North in Newton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Newton County Funeral Home - North. Burial will follow in Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements. (601)635-3200

Mr. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Newton County. He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served for many years in law enforcement beginning as a deputy in 1976. While serving as a deputy he was named Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. He later served as a police officer for the city of Newton in which he would later retire from.
Mr. Jackson enjoyed gardening and watching football and wrestling. He loved his family and spending time with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Maella Jackson; his sister Desiree Evans, and brothers Vaught Jackson and T.J. Jackson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years Mary Jackson; daughters, Veronica Mitchell, and Sheila Jackson; sons, Charles Jackson, Jr., Teddy Charles Jackson; son-in-law Shellie Mitchell Sr.; grandchildren: Shellie Mitchell, Jr., Darius Mitchell, Preston Jackson, and Paisley Jackson; brothers, Richard Jackson of Birmingham, AL and Larry Jackson of Minneapolis, MN.
