Charles Edward Williams, 74, of Bailey, MS died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Bedford Care in Marion. He was born Sunday, September 14, 1941 in Columbus, MS.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS. Dr. John Temple will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Williams will be missed for his love of Meridian High School football. He graduated from Meridian High in the 1960s, were he was a standout running back on the team. He was loyal to the Meridian Police Department where he was a detective for many years and then promoted to Chief of detectives.
He is preceded in death by: Parents - Howard E. Williams and Inez Barham Williams.
Survivors include his: Son - David Williams (Teresa), Bailey, MS, Grand Daughters - Melissa Groves (Andy) and Natalie Williams, Great Grand Child - Anderson Levi Groves, Sisters - Bobbie Williams, Diane Nelson and Peggy Morgan.
