Carolyn "Elaine" Bounds, 82, of Newton, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020. She was born Sunday, February 20, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ryan Cozart, Bro. Ben Laird, and Dr. William A. Smith will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elaine was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked 39 years in the banking industry starting her career with First National Bank of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Joe Bounds; her parents, Gilmore and Brooksie Dean; her sister, Vivian Dean.

Survivors include her daughter, Polly Mayes (Kent); one granddaughter, Brookes Prince (Blaine); two great-grandsons, Parker Prince and Davis Prince; two nieces, Donna Pace (Chris) and Aimee Carpenter (Cliff); two special cousins, Brenda Reid and LaDonna Walters.

Pallbearers will be Ferrell Stroud, Butch Meaders, Chris Craven, Bo Maske, Armand Therrien, Jay Chesney, Brent Mayes, and Douglas Mayes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Stroud, Ronnie Thrash, Sr., and the Newton High School Class of 1955.
