Mr. Weaver, 86, of Conehatta, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023.He was a devoted husband and a hero to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, closely followed by his well-tended garden. A man of many talents, he once served as deputy sheriff, a foreman at Ingalls's shipyard, along-time La-Z-Boy employee, and the owner of Weaver's Country Store. He was known to be an avid golfer, frequently found on the Decatur golf course with his son and grandsons. His love of golf and family led him to start the annual Arctic Blast – Lewis Weaver Memorial Golf Tournament twelve years ago. When not on the golf course or in his garden, he could be found putting one of his many jigsaw puzzles together. Hard work and dedication were his defining characteristics, and he embodied those until the very end. There's no doubt he's sitting in heaven now with Patsy on his knee, cooking up his biggest batch of stew yet, happy to have completed his final round of golf.
Survivors include his four children: Terry Gressett and husband Larry of Conehatta; Tammy Shoemaker and husband John David of Decatur; Chris Weaver and wife Suzanne of Conehatta; and Tracy Warren and husband Brent of Decatur; eight grandchildren: Brad McDill, Ashley Hammack, Johnathan Shoemaker, Megan Sistrunk, Ryan Weaver, Hayden Weaver, Makayla Weaver, and Madyson Warren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Marie Estes of Austin, TX and Geraldine Haralson of Conehatta.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Weaver; his parents: Frank and Naomi Weaver; his brothers: Ben Weaver, Tom Weaver, Dale Weaver, Lewis Weaver; and sisters: Birdie Linda Weaver and Dorothy Parish.
Pallbearers: Brad McDill, Braxton McDill, Ryan Weaver, Hayden Weaver, Johnathan Shoemaker, and Trey Sistrunk.
Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the 19th Hole of the Decatur Country Club – Kenny Clarke, Carla Clarke, John Blount, Rusty Barnett, Randy McElhenney, and Taylor McElhenny.
