Funeral services for Calvin Ammons will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Baptist Cemetery in Scott County under the direction of Newton County Funeral Home.

He was born Friday, October 16, 1936 in Sabsine Parish, Louisiana. He will be remembered as a simple man who loved his banana pudding and was an avid domino player. He was a mechanic by trade who enjoyed his retirement, and in his last years the company of friends and family at the Hillsboro Street apartments in Forest. He passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his residence in Forest.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Ammons; his step-son, Billy Bell and his parents, Pinky B. and Doshie Austin Ammons, and all of his siblings.

Survivors include his step-son, Ray Bell, and several close friends, in particular, his best friend, David Perkins of Forest.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the funeral home.
