Bobbye King Steverson, 89 of Chunky, MS passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was born Thursday, March 3, 1932 in Taylorsville, MS.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Edon Baptist Church in Stringer, MS . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Brent Benson will officiate. Mrs. Bobbye grew up in Taylorsville, MS. She was the daughter of John O'Flynn King and Lucy Ola McLeod King. She was the fourteenth child and the last surviving sibling of sixteen. Mrs. Bobbye graduated Taylorsville High School and later attended Clarke College and Mississippi College. Following graduation she taught school for over 40 years in several different schools.
She was a member of Chunky Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Acteens, and served as Missions Director for many years. Her heart and life was lived for Jesus. Her passion was serving people especially children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Steverson, her parents, and siblings.
Survivors include her son, Dan Steverson (Pam); daughters, Kim MacPherson (Bill) of Kingsport, TN and Krista Gutierrez of Chunky, MS; grandchildren: Flynn Steverson (Megan), Daniel Steverson (April), Sidney James (Dustin), Adelaide MacPherson and Murray MacPherson; great-grandchildren: Naomi James and Anna Raven Steverson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Flynn Steverson, Daniel Steverson, Murray MacPherson, Bill MacPherson, Dustin James, Robert King, Scott Williams, Paul Chaney, and Blaine Eaton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy King, Michael King, Jerry King, Gary King, Edward Warren, Danny Warren and also her great nephews.
Special music will be performed by Eric Benson and Marilynn Carter.
