Beverly Mclaurin
Cassino
June 17, 1951 – July 1, 2022
Beverly McLaurin Cassino experienced the truest independence as she left this life and went to her heavenly home on July 4 th , 2022. Her health had been declining over the last year after a diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia. She was welcomed into the arms of Jesus when she arrived, not because she lived a perfect life or got it all right, but because Jesus came for the broken of this world, to give us the hope and love that can't be earned or bought but is freely given to all who call on His name.
She was welcomed to heaven by her parents, Cora B and O.T. McLaurin, and her grandparents, Nadie and Roy Coker of Newton, MS, and Jewel and Hugh Lavon McLaurin of Jackson, MS.
Beverly Sue McLaurin was born in Newton, MS on June 17, 1951. When her younger sister Jenny was little, she had a hard time saying "Beverly." When Jenny did try saying her name, it came out as "Bebba," a nickname that would stick with her all of her life. Bebba graduated from Wingfield High School in Jackson, MS in 1969. She began attending Hinds Community College (HCC) in the fall of 1969, and while there she became a Hinds High Stepper. She would often tell people of her time at HCC and would sometimes sing the High Stepper song and attempt their dance routines which would entertain us all. While married to Frank Cassino she gave birth to her greatest joy, Brian Frank Cassino. She would say that she only had one child because she didn't believe she could ever love another the way she loved Brian.
Beverly worked a variety of jobs and could have a resume filling multiple pages. She worked with folks that eventually became her dear friends. She worked with a caterer and event planner, and she was an assistant to her beloved friend at a local Memphis CPA office. Beverly had an entrepreneurial spirit and at one time owned her own business called Body Wrap of Memphis. She was also frequently teased by her son and family for signing up and buying into several direct marketing sales opportunities. Some of those were selling jewelry, makeup, and nutrition products. She was drawn to all the latest fad diets and any new product with promising benefits. She was feisty, a fighter, loyal, and so generous she'd literally give you the purse off her shoulder. She had a great giggle and would always fall for her son's teasing. He always knew he could find his way out of trouble by getting her to laugh. She loved her people fiercely and will be greatly missed.
Bebba leaves behind her son, Brian Cassino (Ashley) of Olive Branch, MS, sister, Jennifer McLaurin Sanford (Ron) of Cordova, TN, grandchildren, Sophi Cassino of Southaven, MS, Emma Fox (John) of Memphis, TN, Daniel and Jonathan Cassino, and Maylen, Adeline, and Pearson Janovich of Olive Branch, MS, nieces, Anna Rudolph (Stephen) of Piperton, TN, and Leslie McKinney (Marlin) of Bartlett, TN, and a great niece and nephews, Nadie and Oliver Rudolph, and Sanford and Bennett McKinney. She also leaves behind her aunts, Peggy Gaines of Newton, MS, Pat Upchurch, Jean McLaurin, and Evelyn Hinton of Jackson, MS along with multiple cousins and friends who loved her dearly. The family would like to thank the kind people at Olive Grove Terrace in Olive Branch, MS who loved Bev and cared for her in the last month of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. www.theaftd.org
