Bennie Dan Walker, Sr., 88, of Hickory, Mississippi went home to be with our Lord, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 15, 1933 in Newton County Mississippi.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will be in Hickory City Cemetery. Bro. Evan Strickland will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 683-2152
Bennie, who was affectionately known to his family as "Pappy", was loved by his family and was the best father, grandfather, brother, and uncle that anyone could have ever been blessed with. Up until August, he was still active in his garden, cutting his grass, and taking care of his dogs. He graduated from Hickory High School in 1951 and attended East Central Junior College in 1952. Bennie retired from H.D.I. as rig superintendent in 1995. He loved farming, camping, but especially fishing. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Hickory, MS.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Virginia Reagan Walker; his son, Bennie
"Dannie" Dan Walker, Jr.; his parents, Dan Kelly Walker and Maggie Sue Johnson Walker; his sister, Linda Webber.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Belk (Freddie); his son, Mack Reagan Walker; his grandchildren, Ted Valentine, Jr. (Ann), Angela Michele Pugh (Jason), Ginger Little, and Ben Walker (Kristen); his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Valentine, James Valentine (Bethany), Angel Valentine, Abigail Pugh, Mathew Pugh, William Pugh, Giana Little, Braiden Walker, and Blaine Walker; his sister, Glenda Sue Hayes (Al).
Pallbearers will be Dan Hurst, Jerry Williams, David Hollingsworth, Mitchell Belk, O'Neal Kelly, and James Valentine.
Honorary pallbearers will be Al Hayes and the Deacons and Elders of Antioch Christian Church.
