Barry Thomas, 72 of Lawrence, MS passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his residence. He was born Wednesday, August 2, 1950 in Picayune, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM until Noon with funeral services immediately following at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS. Burial will follow in Decedar Baptist Church in Lawrence, Mississippi. Bro. Justin Chaney will officiate. Newton County Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements. 601-635-3200

Mr. Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He took pride in growing his tomatoes.  He loved spending time with his family.  Mr. Barry will truly be missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Lavon Whitfield Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gail Thomas of Lawrence; son, Barry Everett Thomas (Letitia);  daughter, Fiona Travassos (James);  grandchildren, Shane Winston Thomas, Wesley Cole Thomas, Clara Jane Thomas, Bryce Finley Thomas, Spencer Dean Thomas, Gilbert Allen Thomas, James Page Travassos and Avagail Fiona Travassos;  sister, Jackie Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
