Barbara Ann McDowell, 61 of Newton, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center North Campus in Meridian.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. , on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Midway Baptist Church  with Bro. Scott Vaughn and Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Newton County Funeral Home South.

Newton County Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, mamaw, and daughter. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. She worked for Newton County Schools for over 23 years. She was dedicated to all of her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be truly missed.

Survivors include her husband: Jimmy McDowell of Newton;
daughter: Charity Ann (Kenny) Castle of Newton; two sons: Robby (Tammy) McDowell of Newton and Toby (April) McDowell of Newton; six grandchildren: Peyton and Parker Castle; Justin and Kaylee McDowell andHaley Beth and Joel McDowell; her mother: Bobbie Nell Griffin of Newton; sister-in-law: Sherry Griffin of Newton three nephews: Jason, Austin, and Casey Griffin; special friends: Suzanne Milling, Pat Harrison, Tanya Scoggins, and Lola Chapman.

She was preceded in death by her father: Sam Griffin and one brother: Danny Griffin.

Pallbearers are Justin McDowell, Peyton Castle, Brian Shaw, Shane Shaw, Freddie Gentry, and Jeffrey Harrison.

Honorary Pallbearers are Deacons of Midway Baptist Church.
